Little Grandma’s Kitchen was born out of our love for making chutneys, curds, jams, preserves, spreads, mustard and marmalade. When our daughter Claire and her husband Nigel decided to get married, we catered for their wedding and naturally made a selection of chutneys. People kept asking “Where did you get these from? Where can we buy them?” The rest is history.

Most of the chutneys, jams, preserves and marmalade and spreads are based upon our Grandma’s (Lilian Ruth Compton (nee Whitcher) original recipes which were handed down to her by her mother, Eliza Whitcher (nee Case). We have also developed new flavours to cater for the modern palate but we are proud to retain the ethos of the family recipes and practises.

The lemon curd and orange curd were our Aunt Effie’s (Ethel Mary Whitcher Compton) original recipes which we have not altered. Other curd flavours are our own creations. All our curds use only Welsh Sirgar Butter and pasteurised egg to improve shelf life
The Compton family lived in Pilley in the Parish of Boldre in the New Forest in a thatched cottage called Southleigh (now Garden Cottage) with Jenny also living in Pilley just down the road in a bungalow called Marill.
All our products are made in small batches to retain their individual flavour using seasonal, local Welsh produce and Welsh ingredients where ever possible .
We hope you enjoy the different flavours as much as we enjoy making them.
